An event in support of revitalisation of the Lisbon agenda

Brussels, May 2005 – (by Thea Payome) The European Commission organised a pan-European conference on eLearning around the three central concepts whose focus was to introduce changes: (1) giving more focus to the EU's actions, (2) establishing broad ownership of the Lisbon goals, and (3) improving governance and defining investment in knowledge and innovation as one of the three key areas for policy action. The number of qualified participants was limited to 500, but unfortunately many of the invited candidates declined the opportunity. [more...]



eLearning quality initiatives by the European Foundation

Duisburg, May 2005 – The European Foundation for Quality in eLearning (EFQUEL), supported by the European Commission and by CEDEFOP and to be legally established on May 18th, 2005 in Brussels, will be an open and inclusive environment and process gathering expertise in quality development in European eLearning. The European Committee for standardization CEN is involved in eLearning Quailty standardization matters through its ISSS (Information Society Standardization System) unit. [more...]

2nd Distance Training Convention "Distance Training moves on ..."

A real success story with the young

London, May 2005 – Key findings from mobile eLearning trials have been published this month by the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA) in a report "Mobile Technologies and learning". The report presents some innovative ideas on how mobile technologies such as smartphones and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) can be useful learning aids - particularly with young people who have not succeeded through traditional education.
