some thirteen million working days for 560,000 people in the UK are lost
to work-related stress, making "stress, anxiety and depression" the
second-most-common cause of work-related illness. A web-based initiative
to help reduce stress in the workplace has been introduced by
MyKnowledgeMap (MKM).

Linz (AT) / Vancouver (CA), March 2007 – The University of British Columbia
at Vancouver has been offering an online graduate level program on the
development and perspectives of eLearning for several years. The Master of
Educational Technology (MET) program is meant for teachers in secondary
education, university, and polytechnic lecturers, as well as for trainers
and HR officers who work in adult education. Now an introductory course on
the MET program can be taken via the Center for Distance Learning at the
Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria.

Survey on the State of eLearning in Europe |

– The Helios project is looking for participants for a free online survey.
The specific subject of this survey is the relationship between eLearning
and innovation of learning systems, with specific regards to formal
education. Helios is a European-Commission-supported research project
aiming at establishing a sustainable observation platform to monitor the
progress of eLearning in Europe vis-à-vis policy objectives and to
forecast future scenarios of eLearning evolution.

eLearning for Accident Prevention in Transport |
Graz (AT), March 2007 – Two out of every three containers transported on
German roads either have left or are destined for the Port of Hamburg.
Special knowledge and compulsory trainings are mandatory to ensure the
safe transport of hazardous goods and to prevent accidents with serious
consequences. An eLearning course on the safe transport of hazardous goods
was recently offered to the employees at the Port of Hamburg.

Optical Fiber Cable Connectivity for East Africa |
Nairobi (KE), March 2007 – In an eDiscussion, organized by the Kenya ICT
Action Network (KICTANet) and supported by the Kenyan Ministry of
Information and Communication, KICTANet listserver subscribers debated the
best model for provisioning Submarine Optical Fiber Cables (OFC) for the
East African Coast. As the region is the only seabed that is yet to be
covered by international submarine OFC connectivity, eDiscussion
participants explored which model of OFC provisioning best serves the
interests of all stakeholders in the region.
