Unique Human Rights Study Programme at Leuphana Starts Again
Lüneburg (GER), May 2022 - The safeguarding and protection of human rights is the focus of the internationally sought-after part-time Master's programme "Governance and Human Rights" at the Professional School of Leuphana University Lüneburg. With their degree, students can qualify for jobs in international organisations, development cooperation, or non-governmental organisations. This September, the English-language study programme will be offered for the seventh time. Applications can be submitted online until 31 May.
The internationally oriented study programme deals with responsible governmental action, known in science as governance. The main focus is on the teaching of governance principles, with the help of which human rights are to be established and secured in the contexts of development cooperation.
The four-semester programme is organised as a distance learning course: The lectures and seminars take place mainly as eLearning units. The attendance phases are bundled into three one-week blocks. This type of study organisation enables the participants, most of whom are foreign students, to learn while working, almost independent of their location.
An important component of the study programme is the practical application of knowledge, which means that students already develop their own project on the topic of human rights or governance in the course of their studies. They also organise their own conference on a topic of their choice at the end of their studies.
