Sponge Launches Downloadable Learning Science Handbook
Plymouth (UK), July 2022 - From understanding how adults learn to unlocking training techniques that capitalise on neuroscience, Sponge's new handbook explores learning science best practice for L&D leaders, managers, and design practitioners.
Thanks to recent developments in neuroimaging, learning science has become a key component of L&D training. From content and visual design to insights and analytics, every aspect of the learning experience can now benefit from the science behind learning.
Against this backdrop, Sponge has announced the launch of a free-to-download learning science handbook. Building on the Learning Science Unpacked podcast series with Professor Paul Howard-Jones, it explores the theory and practice of leveraging neuroscience within an L&D context.
Rather than delving deep into the complexities of the brain, Sponge's handbook stresses utility. By limiting its focus to three key brain processes that aid memory and recall, L&D practitioners can learn about evidence-based techniques for boosting learner engagement and creating memorable experiences, without drowning in scientific detail.
In summary, the handbook covers the following:
- how adults learn - engagement, building knowledge, and consolidation
- the training techniques that really work (and the ones we should leave behind)
- how to avoid common pitfalls that hamper learning and shortchange organisations
