The London Institute of Banking & Finance
London (UK), September 2016 - Leading financial education provider ifs University College is to change its name to The London Institute of Banking & Finance. The new name will come into effect in September 2016, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
ifs University College is a leading provider of professional and academic qualifications to those aspiring to, or already undertaking, a career within banking and finance. Formerly "The Chartered Institute of Bankers", its roots stretch back to 1879, and it has been at the forefront of providing industry-leading professional education ever since.
It also works to improve financial capability through its personal-finance qualifications for 14-19 year olds and was granted Taught Degree - Awarding Powers in 2010. The decision by the trustees of ifs University College to change the organisation’s name follows a comprehensive strategic review that took place in 2015.
The review involved extensive consultation with the organisation's students, members, alumni, academic community, and financial-services industry employers.
Alex Fraser, Principal at ifs University College, said, "Our new name - The London Institute of Banking & Finance - is an exciting development for everyone connected with the organisation. It reflects our vision to be an internationally recognised organisation delivering outstanding financial education and makes our purpose and remit extremely clear."
"The new name will help employers to understand the highly relevant, professional, and applied nature of our programmes, which in turn will enhance the recognition that our students, members, and alumni receive for their achievements. It will also help prospective students across all of our programmes understand the unique role that we play in supporting their lifelong careers in banking and finance."
