Science Learning Portal with 213 Free Digital Lessons for Kids
Ardmore, PA (USA) / Hilversum (NL), November 2020 - The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the education of over 90% of the world's children and students. It has exacerbated existing inequalities and magnified the global learning crisis. The future of an entire generation is at risk. (The Education Commission, 2020). However, while education is clearly a victim of the pandemic, it is also the solution to the longer-term recovery.
In response, The e-Learning For Kids Foundation (EFK), a non-profit organization launched in the USA in 2004 and in the Netherlands in 2007, is thrilled to launch its new science learning portal www.scienceworldforkids.org. The learning portal includes the entire kindergarten to grade 6 curricula of 213 courses (each 20-30 minutes) for children to learn science in the context of different cultures and countries around the world. Lessons are based on International Baccalaureate® (IB) standards that focus on teaching children to think critically and independently.
"Science teaches children to make observations, to collect information, and to use logical thinking to draw a conclusion. These skills are important for every part of our lives. Science education fuels curiosity and provides children with valuable ideas, skills, and potential future career choices", according to e-Learning for Kids Founder Dr. Nick van Dam, Chief Learning Officer at IE University (Madrid) and former McKinsey Partner and Global Chief Learning Officer.
van Dam added, "It has been a very exciting year for EFK, as the foundation has also launched a math curriculum that includes 336 free digital math lessons. To date, more than 20 million children in over 100 countries have benefitted from our free lessons. We are excited about the large number of new kids, parents, and teachers who have discovered our lessons in 2020."
