ArcelorMittal Upgrades Contract with GlobalEnglish

Brisbane, CA (USA), March 2008 -” GlobalEnglish Corporation, a provider of online learning and support for business English communication, has announced that ArcelorMittal, the world's number-one steel company, has upgraded its multiyear contract. After signing an initial agreement with GlobalEnglish in 2006, Mittal Steel merged with steel giant Arcelor, and ArcelorMittal became the largest steel company in the world, with more than 320,000 employees in 60 countries.

Improving employees' skills in English--the company's official language--became a strategic imperative to ensure a successful integration of the two organizations, and the company has now expanded the GlobalEnglish program.

With the merger, the number of employees requiring English communication skills to succeed in the new global entity increased dramatically, and the company signed a new multiyear agreement to expand the number of users on the GlobalEnglish Corporate Learning Service™ by more than 250%.

"English is the official language of ArcelorMittal because it is the language of business", said Christian Standaert, General Manager, ArcelorMittal University. "Teaching business English to our employees is the most effective tool in our training arsenal for improving our ability to function as a global organization."

"ArcelorMittal is a model for the globalization of traditional industries like steel", said Deepak Desai, president and CEO of GlobalEnglish Corporation. "It is not enough to simply acquire and expand; global companies must be able to function as an integrated organization, and the ability to communicate lies at the heart of that. By making this strategic investment in the development of business English communication skills, ArcelorMittal is ensuring a smoother integration that will optimize the benefits of this merger."
