The portal will be hosted on the NES website and be available to all healthcare practitioners throughout Scotland.
Speaking about the announcement, Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning says, "We previously worked with NES to develop a number of eLearning programmes, so we know that they are completely committed to delivering the highest- quality learning experiences to healthcare staff across Scotland. For this reason, we're delighted that Aurion Learning has once again been given the opportunity to work with NES to deliver this innovative online learning resource."
In 2008, the Scottish government launched Living and Dying Well, a national action plan for palliative and end-of-life care in Scotland (SGHD, 2008). The plan's stated aim was to ensure the availability of palliative and end-of-life care for all patients and families across all care settings.
NES is working with the Scottish government to support and facilitate the development of education to ensure that healthcare professionals have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, competence, and confidence to care for individuals and their families living and dying from any advanced, progressive, or incurable condition. The development of the Advance & Anticipatory Care Planning Toolkit and the Principles and Practice of Palliative and End of Life Care work-based learning resource will provide further learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.
