Epic's and LINE's Parent Company Acquires Preloaded
London (UK), May 2014 - Epic and LINE are delighted to announce that their parent company, Learning Technologies Group plc (LTG), has acquired BAFTA-winning games-based learning company Preloaded.
Preloaded create games with purpose, designed to engage and inspire learners in a wide variety of sectors. As award-winning specialists in their field, Preloaded have partnered with companies such as Amplify (a subsidiary of News Corp), Disney, Science Museum Group, Wellcome, and the BBC to create highly innovative and truly original learning games.
Preloaded will join Epic and LINE to form the comprehensive bespoke eLearning foundation of LTG, following LTG’s recent acquisition of UK-based LINE. It will sit alongside authoring-tool company gomo learning within the group, providing an integrated range of learning technologies services and products.
According to recent research by Ambient Insight, The 2012-2017 Worldwide Game-based Learning and Simulation-based Markets, the global market for games-based and simulation learning is set to increase from $4bn in 2012 to $9bn by 2017. As LTG’s second acquisition, this is a strategic move to introduce the services of a specialist educational-games company to the group, strengthening LTG’s position as a global end-to-end service provider of learning technologies.
Chief Executive of LTG Jonathan Satchell said, "This is a very exciting move for LTG, and I am delighted to welcome Preloaded into the group. It is clear that this is a dynamic industry with great potential, and this is a strategically complementary acquisition for LTG."
Following fourteen years of success on its own, Preloaded is now ready to progress to the next level, operating as part of LTG to extend the reach of its transformational learning games.
Paul Canty, CEO of Preloaded, said, "Joining LTG represents our continued efforts to take our award-winning games to new audiences and new sectors. LTG provide both the reach and investment to do so and offer an exciting opportunity for us become a truly global player in the games-with-purpose space."
