Learning Technology Proves Essential for CME Accreditation
West Sussex (UK), July 2014 - The new eLearning programme sponsored by Systagenix, the global wound-care company, has been awarded a CME credit by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). The honor came because the programme meets essential and desirable criteria set by the European Union of Medical Specialists.
The programme, designed for healthcare professionals, is organised by the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre in cooperation with Commelius Solutions, whose learning technology and support for the initiative helped gain CME recognition for the wound-care module.
Vicky Jones, Managing Director of eLearning and LMS portals at Commelius, says, "We were very excited when Systagenix invited us to join this project. For us it is a new experience, as it’s the first time we have supported a medical education programme like this. We saw it as an opportunity to deploy our learning technology in a new field, and we were keen to undertake the challenge and ensure it was a success."
The project required a learning technology that would meet the requirements for the accreditation of online learning materials. Examples of these included making sure the privacy and confidentiality of learners is respected, offering learners means of providing feedback on the module, and making all content easy to use. Technical support also had to be provided.
Jones adds, "As soon as we saw the list of the essential criteria, we knew we could easily meet them. We’re very happy our learning solution contributed to the success of the Systagenix wound-care educational module."
To support Systagenix’s wound-care-education module and its accreditation - Commelius used ALTO - their LMS technology deployed to the requirements of the project and to the client’s needs.
