Fifth International Blended Learning Conference
Hatfield (UK), November 2009 - The University of Hertfordshire's Blended Learning Unit and the Higher Education Academy, with contribution from the University of Calgary and the University of Queensland, have announced next year's conference theme: "Developing Blended Learning Communities".
The conference will be held 16-17 June 2010 at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield (UK). The Conference will explore the notion of community in its variety of forms. The main keynote will be given by Prof. Peter Bullen, Director of the Blended Learning Unit at the University of Hertfordshire.
On day one, the Conference will be linking up with colleagues at the University of Calgary to hear a presentation on their approach to developing blended learning communities and to share ideas. Day two will include a live link-up with the University of Queensland.
The two days of the conference will see a mixture of presentations, discussion sessions, and workshops with a gala dinner on the evening of 16 June.
Call for Papers, Case Studies and Posters
The conference committee invites the submission of contributions for the Fifth International Blended Learning Conference. Contributions are sought on a range of topics around the theme of developing blended learning communities.
These might include, but are not restricted to, issues related to the development of blended learning communities to support and enhance various aspects of the curriculum, e.g., employability, internationalisation, and lifelong learning. Other areas could include developing a community of blended learning practitioners, extending existing blended learning communities, and theoretical perspectives on blended learning communities.
Submissions fall into three categories, two of which can be supplemented by a research paper for possible inclusion in the conference proceedings:
- Presentations - a 20-25 minute conference presentation. Selection will be based on the submission of an abstract. We also encourage you to submit a research paper of unpublished, original work or a case study (2000 - 4000 words), which will undergo peer review and - if selected - be included in the proceedings.
- Poster/Virtual Poster - Selection based on an abstract. A research paper of unpublished, original work or a case study (2000 - 4000 words) can later be submitted for peer review and possible inclusion in the proceedings.
- Workshops - a one-hour workshop session. Selection based upon an abstract summarising the objectives of the workshop and the proposed activities.
The abstract submission deadline is Monday, 18 January 2010.
