Social Networks Conference in Italy in September
Munich (GER)/ Turku (FI)/ Bordeaux (FR), May 2008 - An international conference, organized by the partners of the European Project "Social Networks and promotion of knowledge construction in eLearning contexts" will be held in Cesena, Italy, 01 - 02 September, 2008.
During the last twenty years, following the development of new technological tools coupled with the increasing need for life-long learning, eLearning activities have drawn widespread attention. The interest towards eLearning, in turn, has given rise to a considerable number of activities as well as experience and research on the application of technological support to learning activities - especially in higher education.
Thus, Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education have progressively become important fields of interest, both for scholars and practitioners involved in learning activities.
The multi-faceted character of eLearning allows for a multidisciplinary field of inquiry, which includes psychology (educational, social, and cognitive psychology), learning science (pedagogical and didactic sciences), computer sciences (educational technology and artificial intelligence systems), and communications sciences.
This conference should be regarded as an opportunity to present the results of recent work and to discuss research findings with other scholars.
Proposals for papers are invited that include, but are not limited to, the following topics of interest:
- Knowledge acquisition in eLearning and the role of ICT in education
- Collaborative knowledge construction in the education context and Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL)
- ICT issues and emerging technologies in education
- Digital divide and social inclusion through ICT
In order to take advantage of different fields of expertise in different areas of learning, contributions of the following members are very welcome:
- Researchers and scholars in education and learning psychology, computer science, and communication sciences
- Practitioners in instruction and education matters
- ICT researchers, scholars, and technicians
- High-level administrators and decision makers on ODL and educational matters
- Teachers, tutors, and managers of eLearning activities
