Call for Papers
Vienna, April 2006 - The interdependencies of humans, human culture, and technology open new fields and trends, thus challenging the sciences to find new methods to understand these processes and to initiate new development. The HCI&UE Workgroup of the Austrian Computer Society is organizing its second symposium on the issue on 16-17 November 2006 in Vienna.
Development tends to underestimate the needs and cultural habits of the end-users and often fails to examine thoroughly how they learn, work, and communicate with the help of these technologies. Consequently, we need to study carefully which combination of media, device, and application is most advantageous to the enhancement of human learning. It is obvious that this evolution must be made at the intersection of Psychology and Computer Science, where HCI&UE traditionally work.
With the increase in the use of digital media for education, it is now essential to include the Educational Sciences. Consequently, the aim of the second symposium of the Workgroup HCI&UE brings the new challenge of matching all three fields in order to shed light on digital media from three different perspectives: Media-informatics, Media-psychology and Media-education. The goal is to strengthen interdisciplinary research and development in order to generate clear benefits for the end-users.

These can be submitted until 15 July 2006. Short Papers, Posters and Demonstrations can be submitted until 31 August 2006. Manuscripts must be submitted directly.
