The buoyancy in the African eLearning market is yet another sign that the potential of this diverse continent is already being realised. There are, however, major challenges ahead. Inflated trade tariffs and restrictive border controls between many African countries, for example, are stifling intra-African trade and collaboration, frequently presenting an all-too-physical barrier to continued, sustainable growth.

Out of this environment of challenge and opportunity, eLearning Africa has announced its annual Call for Proposals, inviting participants from across Africa and the world to submit their ideas, innovations, and research under the main theme of "Opening Frontiers to the Future".

As the largest gathering of eLearning and ICT-supported education and training professionals in Africa, the Conference will address topics including infrastructure and public-private partnerships, as well as showcase the very best of African innovation. The following sub-themes are on the agenda:

Meeting the networking needs of the pan-African eLearning and distance-education sector, the annual eLearning Africa conference is the key networking venue for practitioners and professionals from Africa and all over the world. The Conference brings together around 1,500 policymakers, practitioners, teachers, and innovators in a different country each year, and is now in its ninth edition.

eLearning Africa 2014 will take place in Kampala, Uganda, 28-30 May. Renowned for its vibrant, stimulating atmosphere, eLearning Africa is unquestionably the place to discuss the Continent’s exciting future.
