Lippincott's Professional Development Programs
Ambler, PA (USA), November 2013 - Wolters Kluwer Health has announced an ambitious expansion to the online courseware of its Lippincott's Professional Development Programs. The addition of more than 100 new eCourses makes the Lippincott library one of the most comprehensive collections of continuing education courses designed specifically for nurses.
The upgrade also includes the industry's most comprehensive remediation support with links to evidence-based content that are built directly into the courseware, making it far easier and more cost effective for nurses to improve knowledge and increase competency.
"We significantly built out several topic areas, including pediatrics and critical care, to provide the comprehensive coverage that our customers require," said Jay Abramovitz, Director of Lippincott's Nursing Solutions Product Development, Professional & Education, Wolters Kluwer Health.
In expanding the catalog, the Lippincott's Nursing Solutions product team talked to clinical educators to identify some of the "hot-button" topics where online courses would be most timely and valuable. The new eCourses address many of these areas, including new and expanded coverage of patient and family-centered medicine, pediatric care, opioids in the hospital, and disease-specific courses with an initial focus on heart disease and stroke. In addition to clinically focused courses, educators cited a need for more courses supporting leadership and management. In particular, they mentioned courses that led to the leadership and management program - courses such as "Customer Service and Service Recovery" and "Non-violent Crisis Intervention."
A New Level of Remediation Support
In addition to course expansion, the entire library of 315 courses has been updated to include a new level of remediation support unlike that of any other nursing coursework provider. This substantial upgrade includes more than 3,600 links directly from the coursework to specific content contained in Lippincott's Nursing Advisor and Lippincott's Nursing Procedures and Skills, two of the most trusted evidence-based software products used by clinicians in healthcare today.
"Clinical educators in hospitals and others facilities are pressed for time and resources," continued Abramovitz. "The fact that our coursework points the nurse directly to evidence-based information frees them from having to look for and cobble together supporting resources to provide remediation."
Links to remediation support are now included within the test-results page for each course. In addition to information that provides the rationale for correct and incorrect test answers, these links take nurses directly to additional relevant content that they can use to improve clinical knowledge competency and help build their confidence.
Lippincott's Professional Development Programs consist of evidence-based online courses organized into programs by key nursing specialties and topic areas. These include critical care, cardiovascular care, obstetrics, neurologic care, pediatrics, behavioral health, compliance, patient safety, and more. Designed to optimize nurses' clinical performance, most courses include continuing education (CE) credit and are delivered in easy-to-learn, interactive formats.
The release of the expanded library began in August and became fully available in early November. It offers over 200 hours of continuing-education (CE) credit. Courses are sold by group sale to hospitals and others institutions. Customers have the option to purchase the entire catalog in an unlimited-use annual subscription or may choose to purchase specific programs separately.
Lippincott's Professional Development Programs are part of Lippincott's Nursing Solutions, a series of evidence-based software applications designed to improve patient outcomes, enhance nurse competency, standardize care, save time, and promote clinical excellence.
