Gutenberg Technology Names Gjergj Demiraj as President
Boston, MA (USA), March 2019 - Gutenberg Technology ("GT") kicked off the New Year by announcing that its Board of Directors has appointed Gjergj Demiraj as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Demiraj has been shaping the direction of GT for over seven years and is primed to confirm GT’s leadership in the publishing industry, while breaking into promising new markets as he takes the helm.
Demiraj comes from an international consulting background in finance, telecommunication, and media. During his time at EidosMedia, in Milan and Paris, he consulted several global publishing groups on how to survive in a world of budding technology by driving their internal digital transformation. He joined GT in 2012 and relocated to Boston in 2016 to open GT’s US offices to begin scaling up GT’s business operations across Europe and North America.
Demiraj replaces Francois-Xavier Hussherr, who founded the company and led it until late 2018, achieving important growth milestones. Hussherr will remain on the company’s Board of Directors and act as one of its strategic advisors. He also remains the third-largest shareholder of GT.
"We are excited about this next step in our journey and the market opportunities ahead. Gjergj has a solid understanding of our products and markets, and we fully support him and the executive team in this new growth strategy as they seek to successfully execute. We would like to thank François-Xavier for his significant contribution to the growth of GT over the past nine years; his dedication and expertise have played a key role in making the company what it is today," says Francois de Varenne, a fellow member of GT’s Board.
"Our mission is to help publishers provide more affordable learning solutions to students without negotiating the quality of the materials. We are well positioned with our excellent team and our proven technology to continue transforming the educational publishing market," says Demiraj. "As part of our new strategy, we will work closely with universities and their curriculum designers to quickly provide a personalized and rich educational experience for learners and to prepare our new offering for the corporate market."
In light of this forward charge into new business opportunities, there have been some notable changes among other members of GT leadership. Christine Chiang has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer to further optimize and scale GT's business operations. Seth Puri has been promoted to EVP of Global Sales & Marketing. Gustav Garzón has returned to GT as VP of Product to strategically reinvigorate the GT mission of innovating and delivering the best-in- class eLearning products available on the market. Aminata Da Costa, Christophe Feuvre, and Mathieu Caudron continue in their roles of CFO, CTO, and Deputy CTO.
