Publishing Portfolio Reaches International Audience
London (UK), January 2008 - The London Book Fair (LBF) has partnered with Nelson Croom to offer a range of online publishing courses. LBF is the global publishing community's leading spring forum for booksellers, publishers, librarians, and book production services worldwide. Over 23,000 industry professionals attend, among them visitors from over 100 countries worldwide. LBF Learning has been developed as a direct response to post-show exhibitor and visitor research, which revealed that a key business challenge was the availability of training.
Each course enables users to learn at their own pace through a variety of case studies, practical examples, and multiple-choice questions designed to accommodate a range of learning styles. The courses will enhance the services that the Fair offers to the community and will make Nelson Croom's Publishing Portfolio courses available internationally. There are currently nine series available, each comprising two courses, including Introduction to Publishing, Account and Territory Management, Project Management, and Leadership Skills.
"We are excited about working with the London Book Fair. We developed the courses specifically for publishers and trialled them with some of the major players in the industry. Now, the London Book Fair will enable a much wider audience to benefit from this key developmental resource. The Publishing Portfolio was shortlisted for a World of Learning Award this year, so all in all it has been a great year for our publishing courses", commented Alan Nelson, Managing Director, Nelson Croom.
The London Book Fair website is fast becoming a global portal for all aspects of publishing information, offering market reports, eLearning, and the Fair calendar. Users can access information on international trade bodies and book fairs across the world and also purchase in-depth Global Publishing Information Reports. Learning has become a burgeoning strand of The London Book Fair over the last few years, and education is a major part of the remit for 2008. The online opportunities complement the existing onsite initiatives, which proved popular at this year's Fair.
"It is fabulous to add the Nelson Croom partnership to our educational portfolio. The London Book Fair website is becoming a year-round international publishing resource, which is something we are delighted to develop as our market research consistently tells us that this is what our customers want. All in all, it is a major point of contact - indeed often the first - for information on international publishing", said Alistair Burtenshaw, Group Exhibition Director, The London Book Fair.
