Fremont, CA (USA), July 2010 - The production process of Emantras, a provider of comprehensive eLearning-related services, involves research and analysis, brainstorming, development, and reviews. The firm's output has proven to be quality learning solutions focused on the learner's needs.
In the following, Emantras provides a case study on one of their clients.
The requirement was to create an engaging eLearning program on physical education for grades 6 - 8 of a virtual school. The big questions at the start were: "How can online physical education be engaging?" and "Shouldn't the students be performing activities in the real world in order to acquire the strength and skills rather than learning theory?" The fundamental challenge was to retain the attention of the target audience, as children in that age group usually do not have the patience to sit through a course.
Emantras started with research and analysis on the subject and followed by outlining the modules in association with the client. Ultimately, the joint effort produced an approach that blended interactive online learning and interesting offline activities. The students would first learn the skills through relevant interactive simulations online, then put their knowledge to practice through interesting activities offline, and finally present a report of what they did into the online learning system. This way, the young people were able to enjoy their guided learning sessions, and the teachers of the virtual school had the possibility to track their students' progress and help them improve.
The initial challenge was to write suitable content to map to the requirements of the State standards. A team of subject-matter experts took up this task. The design team brainstormed for ideas for attention grabbers, content, and interactions. Then the look and feel of the learning environment for each grade was customized, giving each of them a specific identity.
The produced content was reviewed and revised continuously until it reached the desired result. From then on, the team worked diligently to create one outstanding lesson after another and completed the project within the specified deadline. Detailed feedback from the client helped in enhancing the content and learning experience.
Throughout the project, the client's team supported Emantras very well, and the result was the successful delivery of an eLearning course for physical education. The client appreciated the interactive design and animations and the efforts put in to complete this project on time. This is what they had to say: "We have released the program for teachers and students. They are really happy about the courses and liked the animations and interactions in the course. Thanks for your great work. We feel this course stands out when compared with the set of courses we have had so far."
