David Patterson Speaks at IADIS International
Sheffield (UK), July 2010 - David Patterson of Learning Light is a keynote speaker at the IADIS International 'Conference eLearning 2010' being held in Freiburg, Germany, 26-29 July. His talk is entitled "eLearning: Regeneration, Research, and Innovation". In his speech, Patterson will be detailing the "Story of Learning Light" - a company that focuses on promoting the use of eLearning and learning technologies. Launched in March 2006, Learning Light, based in Sheffield, is a centre of excellence in the use of eLearning and learning technologies in the workplace.
Supported by Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for Yorkshire and the Humber, Learning Light is particularly active in promoting these technologies throughout Yorkshire, especially South Yorkshire. Indeed, Learning Light's efforts in this respect have been rewarded - in the last few years - by Sheffield taking over from Brighton as the focal point for the UK's corporate eLearning sector's developers and suppliers.
Patterson will also outline Learning Light's most recent findings as it researches the state of the UK eLearning market for the 2010 report - building on its two previous reports in 2007 and 2009. Moreover, he will announce that the 2010 report involves a significant expansion in the research to cover Scandinavia, Germany, France, and Italy.
Learning Light, which works closely with the Universities of Leeds and Sheffield, operates the eLearning Centre, one of the leading free resources on eLearning in the UK. In addition, it occupies a unique space in the eLearning and learning-technology sector, networking with:
- Suppliers of eLearning and learning technologies to support the growth of the sector;
- Buyers seeking out learning-technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of their business or organization;
- Leading organizations worldwide who provide it with market knowledge from around the globe.
The International Association for Development of the Information Society (IADIS), which is organizing the eLearning conference in Freiburg, in July, is a non-profit association that, among other things, promotes the study, research, and dissemination of news related to the Information Society and to promote the exchange and cooperation with national and foreign associations and entities that have the same goals.
The IADIS eLearning 2010 conference will address the main issues of concern in eLearning. Covering both technical and non-technical aspects of eLearning, among the topics the Conference will address are organizational strategy and management issues; technological issues; eLearning curriculum development issues; instructional design issues; eLearning delivery issues; eLearning research methods and approaches; e-skills and information literacy for learning.
