Closing date of the MEDEA Awards 2011 in September
Roosbeek (BE), May 2011 - The deadline for receipt of entries for the fourth annual MEDEA Awards is 16 September 2011. This year there will be two main awards: the MEDEA Award for User-Generated Educational Media 2011 and the MEDEA Award for Professionally Produced Educational Media 2011.
In addition, there will be a Special Award for European Collaboration in the creation of Educational Media 2011 supported by the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme and a Special Award for Educational Media Promoting Volunteering 2011. An additional Special Award of the MEDEA Jury 2011 may also be awarded at the discretion of the MEDEA jury.
Entries are invited in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish, and all finalists will be invited to take part in the Media & Learning Conference 2011 in Brussels, which includes the MEDEA Awards Ceremony. This conference, called -œMedia & Learning: Harnessing the Power of Media to Support Learning-, is being organised in collaboration with the Flemish Ministry of Education and will take place 24-25 November in the Flemish Ministry of Education Headquarters in Brussels.
The MEDEA Award for User-Generated Educational Media 2011 honours the best entry submitted by teachers, students, learners, parents, professors, individuals, or organizational representatives in primary education, secondary education, higher education, adult education, vocational education, and/or training.
The MEDEA Award for Professionally Produced Educational Media 2011 will be awarded to the best professional educational media produced by a professional company or semi-professional production unit. This can be a broadcaster, professional multimedia producer or publisher, professional web-design company, or an audiovisual or media department in a larger institution. Applicants can also be organizations such as universities, government departments, companies, multinational institutions, and international organizations.
Entry to this competition is free, and prizes of hardware and software will be awarded along with the MEDEA Statuette and commemorative medals.
