Equality and Diversity

Irish Universities Partner with Aurion Learning

Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK), March 2011 - Aurion Learning has announced its success in winning a new contract to develop an equality and diversity eLearning programme for the Irish Universities Association (IUA) Equality Network, a sub-group of the Irish Universities Association.

Aurion Learning will be working in partnership with the IUA Equality Network to design and build an online learning programme suitable for all staff. The IUA Equality Network, with members from Ireland's seven universities, was established to work collaboratively to share best practice, develop institutional competence, develop intervarsity projects and co-operation, promote an inclusive university environment, and prevent discrimination on all equality grounds contemplated in legalisation.

Speaking about the project, Marie Connolly, Learning, Development & Equal Opportunities Manager at the University of Limerick and the project leader says, "Ireland is becoming an increasingly diverse country. In recent years, widening participation from all members of the community has been a priority for Irish universities, both individually and collectively.

This equality and diversity eLearning programme is part of a wider blended approach to generating mainstream staff engagement with diversity issues. In particular, it will enable staff to consider and reflect on the part they play in building an inclusive culture across the university sector."

Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning comments, "We're delighted to be working with the IUA Equality Network to develop this Living Equality and Diversity (LEAD) eLearning programme. It will include over two-and-a-half hours of online learning spread over five modules, allowing participants to build up their knowledge over time. It will feature best practice and engaging learning content to keep learners interested and engaged."
