Banco Santander España Achieves LPI Accreditation
Madrid (E), March 2020 - A Spanish bank continues to impress with its commitment to employee development and learning outcomes. Banco Santander España (part of the global Banco Santander group), has been awarded Accredited Learning Department status for the second consecutive year by the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI). Santander España is a large retail and commercial bank based in Madrid, Spain, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the major global bank Banco Santander.
The accreditation process is a fundamental part of the LPI's "Performance Through Learning" programme and independently endorses a learning department's value-add; its ongoing commitment to business excellence and performance improvement; and its positive outcomes from employee development and training services. The LPI's globally recognised accreditation programme employs a highly robust framework developed by leading L&D experts - and validated by decades' worth of data from thousands of organisations - to measure, benchmark, and improve learning capabilities.
The accreditation was carried out by Overlap, the Learning and Performance Institute's official Business Partner for the Iberian region. Overlap's assessors were impressed by Banco Santander España's approach to learning and development, its pursuit of excellence, and its willingness to adapt and innovate to maintain a high-quality learning experience for its employees.
José Miguel Caras Ubeda, CLO at Santander España, said, "The accreditation means the expert endorsement of a team in continuous development that supports the business strategic plan of Santander España through L&D. The best for our customers is that the team that trains our Red Comercial (Commercial Network) is accredited by an organisation of recognised prestige."
Commenting on the accreditation, Edmund Monk, CEO, LPI, said, "Achieving the Learning Department Accreditation for a second year proves that Banco Santander España's internal learning provision continues to be capable and competent, provides value, and has a positive impact on the performance of the wider business and its employees. The accreditation represents a positive step toward achieving future performance goals, building upon an already excellent foundation to deliver the highest standards of learning and development. I would like to congratulate the L&D team at Santander España on their achievement and look forward to hearing how they progress through the Performance Through Learning programme to ever greater accomplishments."
Banco Santander España's accreditation comes off the back of another huge achievement - a Gold win at the 2020 Learning Awards. The organisation beat over thirty global organisations to win the highly coveted Gold award in the 'Digital Learning Transformation' category.
