New Association to Stimulate Use of Media in Education
Brussels (BE), June 2013 - Six European organisations active in the field of media-supported learning have got together to found a new not-for-profit international association to promote and stimulate the use of media as a way to enhance innovation and creativity in teaching and learning across all levels of education and training in Europe. The founding members are CSP, an innovative Italian research agency; ATiT, a Belgian media company; the French university network AUNEGE; the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Ireland; Estonia's Information Technology Foundation for Education (HITSA); and KU Leuven in Belgium.
Membership is now open to organisations that wish to join the media and learning association and share the same interest. By joining the association, members will have access to
- a workshop bureau, with information about experienced trainers and workshop programmes
- communication services, including preferential access to the Media & Learning newsletter, currently distributed to 10,000 email addresses
- project facilitation and knowledge-sharing services, regular updates on potential relevant funding opportunities
- registration discounts for the annual international Media & Learning Conference, the largest and most influential conference about media-supported learning in Europe.
The annual membership subscription has been set at €500. In 2013, as part of the launch of the new association, a combined membership and conference fee of €600 is offered that covers the annual membership fee and cost of registering one person for the Conference.
This new association will eventually take over the running of the annual Media & Learning Conference and the organisation fo the annual MEDEA Awards. It is also available for collaborative activities in the field of media and learning.
