Introducing a New Learning Calendar

London (UK), June 2010 - With the rise of web 2.0 tools and social media, teachers are increasingly looking for hi-tech ways of communicating, collaborating, and saving time. English-language teachers now have a new way to plan and schedule online resources with the launch of the Learning Calendar on onestopenglish.com.

Developed by Macmillan in direct response to customer feedback, the Learning Calendar reflects an increased appetite among teachers for technological tools and follows on from the launch of the Onestopblogs website last year, which has brought together the best ELT blogs and bloggers.

The new Learning Calendar allows users to bookmark and organise all their online resources in one place, whether they are from onestopenglish or anywhere else on the web. They can also let colleagues know about favourite resources by using the 'Share' icon to send bookmarks or folders via email.

Lessons can be planned in advance, tests scheduled, and activities lined up to use in class by simply dragging a bookmark or a whole folder to a specific date on the calendar. Any dates with allocated resources are highlighted in blue and clickable for easy reference.

Lucy Williams, Onestopenglish Commissioning Editor, says, "We're really excited about the Learning Calendar here at onestopenglish - it's giving our users exactly what they asked us for in our 2009 User Survey."

This 2009 User Survey, which included detailed information about users' patterns of behaviour, also showed that onestopenglish is used as much by experienced teachers as by new ones - with surprising frequency. This suggests that rather than being used as a way of filling in gaps, online resources are increasingly becoming a cornerstone of teachers' tools.

The new Learning Calendar taps into this trend, acting as a portal for use with all kinds of online content and helping teachers to access, share, and organise their content in a way that works for their individual needs.

Onestopblogs brings together blogs from throughout the English language teaching community. Featuring blogs from the best teaching voices on the web and bringing together latest posts on the homepage, onestopblogs is the portal for news, views, tips, and trends in English-language teaching.
