Kazakhstan Invests in Language Teaching
Turku (FI)/Astana (KZ) March 2011 - Kazakhstan is transforming the country's entire education system with its "Towards Competitive Kazakhstan" programme. The aim of the Ministry of Education and Science is to upgrade the quality of education on all study levels and to integrate Kazakhstan into the world economy by developing internationally competitive skills. There is especially a need for more extensive studies in foreign languages such as Russian and English.
As part of the programme, new pedagogic and information technology are being introduced to support the language studies in schools. Today, one classroom in 459 secondary schools in Kazakhstan is equipped with modern language-teaching software provided by Sanako, a developer of language-teaching software and language labs for the educational sector. Sanako partner Nurecom Ltd. has delivered and integrated the PCs, furniture, and other related elements in the classrooms.
"Language skills have a crucial role for any country seeking to succeed in the global economy. Kazakhstan has ambitions to be among the top developed nations in the world, and this project is a step toward that goal", Kimmo Kärpijoki, Vice President in Project Sales at Sanako says.
"The project started in May 2010, and it took only five months to complete. The cooperation with the schools and our partner was really smooth, and we did not face any big challenges during the project", he continues.
"Language and multimedia laboratories have been installed in all the schools. Teachers have been trained to use Sanako's Study 1200 in their language teaching, and the majority of them have already used it. They are very satisfied with the solution", explains Kudaibergenuly Nuraly, CEO at Nurecom.
Kazakhstan is investing tens of millions of euros in the development programs in the educational sector to take the quantum leap and succeed in the global economy.
Kazakhstan schools were provided with Sanako Study 1200 software, including the exam module and headsets. The system transforms any computer classroom into a versatile language-learning environment and enables teachers to conduct compelling and effective lessons that combine speaking, listening, and written text.
