Brandon Hall Gold Award for Excellence in Learning
London (UK), October 2007 - LINE Communications, a provider of learning and communications solutions, has won the coveted Brandon Hall gold award for Excellence in Learning in the Best Custom Content category for its Cultural Awareness training programme. LINE collected the major international award for its bespoke online learning programme at a ceremony in San Francisco.
LINE developed the Cultural Awareness training programme for the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) as a key element of their pre-deployment training that service personnel undertake prior to active duty in Iraq. The materials comprise a highly interactive, scenario-based eLearning programme and a commander's briefing pack with accompanying visuals for use where the training is delivered face-to-face.
Such was the success of the programme within the UK that the MOD released the materials for use amongst other NATO allies. To date approximately 35,000 troops have used them.
Over the past thirteen years, Brandon Hall have hosted the most important international awards competition in the worldwide eLearning community. This year the awards received a total of 256 entries from fifteen countries. The entries were evaluated by a total of 511 independent judges from nations around the world.
LINE received the Brandon Hall gold award for Best Custom Content. The feedback from the judges praised the balanced use of media to hold the learners' attention and create a heightened sense of relevance.
When accepting the award, LINE's Sales and Marketing Director Steve Ash said, "This is a proud moment for LINE and fitting recognition of the passion and commitment of the teams both at LINE and within the MOD to create a truly outstanding learning programme".
Major Chris Edwards (MOD) commented, "LINE has without doubt met the immediate and long-term needs of the Army with this Cultural Awareness training programme. Through imaginative and highly interactive screens, a soldier is able to grasp both the theoretical concepts and practical applicability in a very short space of time. Through the use of the programme, force protection has been enhanced and rapport gained with the local communities much quicker than would have otherwise been possible."
