Stroud (UK), November 2008 - The Charity Learning Consortium (CLC), a membership organisation dedicated to providing cost-effective eLearning in the charity and voluntary sectors, has announced the addition of four new members. CLC now has a membership of forty voluntary organisations and has seen an increase in membership of over forty percent in the last six months.
Formed in 2001 by six charities looking to share learning resources, the CLC continues to provide an opportunity for voluntary organisations to cost effectively access a large portfolio of eLearning courseware. Members also benefit from quarterly seminars and networking opportunities where best practice is shared.
The latest members to join include Diabetes UK, the Orders of St John Care Trust, the National Childminding Association, and the Personal Service Society (PSS). PSS was established in Liverpool in 1919 and today provides community-based social and healthcare services across North West England, central Scotland, and North Wales.
Helen Hagan from the PSS Training Unit says they joined the Charity Learning Consortium in order to "access the eLearning courses and authoring software and to network with like-minded organisations."
CLC has found that members positively receive the opportunity to network with other members via quarterly meetings and the newly launched online networking tool.
As a result of gaining four new members, CLC will be planting four new trees in Nightingale Wood in the Great Western Community Forest near Swindon. The CLC's pledge to plant new trees for each member is realised through the International Tree Foundation.
