Utah Education Network Praises Adobe Products

Salt Lake City, UT (USA), May 2010 - The Utah state government has established the Utah Education Network (UEN). The UEN is made up of providers of training and technical support services and serves more than 22,000 K-12 teachers and higher- education instructors State wide, helping to improve the learning environment for the students in Utah public schools.

"Providing teachers with easy access to professional development is a top priority for us", says Tim Stack, web academy coordinator and trainer at UEN. "We help teachers learn new technologies and integrate them into their classrooms. We also offer teachers training on developing lesson plans, working effectively with diverse students, and managing other activities that impact learning."

Throughout the year, thousands of Utah teachers work with UEN to get the latest information and training on technologies to enhance classroom instruction. Some teachers receive training via the organization's website, while others participate in training labs at UEN offices or attend classes taught by UEN staff members, who travel to school districts throughout the year.

"Our on-site, in-person classes are not the only way we train and support teachers", says Stack. "Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional software provides the next vital link, enabling us to use web conferencing to regularly collaborate with teachers throughout the year."

UEN's use of Acrobat Connect Professional software goes beyond working with teachers to answer software questions. UEN also uses the software to broadcast a thirty-minute educational development show called The Faculty Lounge. From their home or classroom computers, teachers can join a live web conference of the show on Thursday afternoons. For teachers who miss the live broadcast, the show is recorded and archived for future viewing.

Using Adobe Captivate 2 software, UEN creates interactive web tutorials that show teachers how to use many of the services and professional development tools on the organization's website. From the basics of converting documents to Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) to exploring Utah's online reference library, training materials created with Adobe Captivate provide teachers with visual, interactive hands-on instruction.
