Online Learning Center for American Cancer Society

Chicago, IL (USA), September 2013 - The American Cancer Society has partnered with Kineo, the leading global learning-solutions provider, to create a cutting-edge online learning center. Using Totara Learning Management System (LMS), the Society can now take a blended approach to training its three million volunteers across the United States.

As a charity, the American Cancer Society (ACS) relies on the goodwill of volunteers who donate their time to support cancer patients and their families and raise much-needed funds for the organization. All volunteers require training, and the ACS has implemented eLearning and live webinars to help save the precious time the volunteers are giving up in order to assist in the cause.

Kineo has implemented Totara LMS as an online learning center, providing the volunteers with easy access to learning content at home and on their personal devices. One of the key elements of the project has been to customize the look of the system and its navigation so ACS volunteers feel at home. The Kineo team achieved this by creating a branded interface based on the ACS’s main public website.

Steve Harris, Senior Learning Technologies Consultant at ACS, comments, "Our number-one goal was to create a site that our volunteers would feel comfortable using and respond to positively. They range from high schoolers to retirees, so anything we implemented had to be user friendly."
