Totara LMS Enterprise Version 2.6 Released
London (UK), June 2014 - The release of 2.6 continues the fast pace at which Totara is adding rich features requested by large corporates, government entities, and not-for-profits worldwide. After the large 2.5 release, which included the powerful performance-management module, Totara Learning has focused on a wide range of enhancements to existing features and a narrower set of new functionalities.
Totara chief executive Richard Wyles said, "Totara LMS is becoming so feature rich now that we’ve actually added a feature so that administrators can readily customise the navigation and appearance and turn things off so as not to use all of Totara’s power. Enabling adaptability is one of our key objectives and is consistent with our open-source philosophy."
Further examples of enabling adaptability include responsive themes and fully configurable learner catalogs that enable organisations to define the way this critical window into the LMS should be presented. The default theme in Totara is now fully responsive and works across multiple screen resolutions, i.e. tablets, phones and desktop.
Richard Wyles added, "We’ve reached the point where, in terms of feature set, Totara LMS has caught up or surpassed the previously more-fancied platforms. Our mission to offer better value and freedom may sound simple, but we believe it’s really important. To be successful in any endeavour, there is a constant need to learn new skills, knowledge and behaviours. The world is ever changing. Organisations need to adapt to survive or stay ahead. Therefore, having the freedom to adapt is critical.
Unfortunately, we don’t always see this with learning platforms. You have to learn the way the software wants you to. At Totara Learning, we’re very focused on addressing this challenge. Of course, we offer it by being open source, but we also achieve it in the way we design the functionality."
