Fifth Round of Awards and Conference Announced
Brussels (BE), April 2012 - The organisers of the MEDEA Awards have just opened this year's call for entries. The MEDEA conference on 14-15 November simultaneously invites proposals to the 2012 conference in Brussels.
The MEDEA Awards recognise and promote innovation and good practice in the use of digital moving images and sound in education, as well as excellence in the production and pedagogical design of media-rich learning resources. This includes the creation and use of video in the classroom.
Teachers, students, academics, support staff, producers, and anyone who produces audiovisual media to support learning is invited to submit their materials to the MEDEA Awards competition via the website.
This year's main awards are the MEDEA Award for User-Generated Educational Media 2012 and the MEDEA Award for Professionally Produced Educational Media 2012. In addition, there will be also be Special Prizes, for example for European Collaboration in the creation of Educational Media as well as for Educational Media Encouraging Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
The submission deadline closes on 17 September 2012.
Entry forms are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish, while entry materials are invited in any language. Entry to this competition is free, and all finalists will be invited to take part in the Media & Learning Conference 2012 in Brussels, which includes the MEDEA Awards Ceremony.
This conference, being organised in collaboration with the Flemish Ministry of Education, will take place 14-15 November in the Flemish Ministry of Education Headquarters in Brussels. It strives to provide policy makers, service providers, and practitioners with a packed programme of talks, discussions, and demonstrations around the topic of using media to enhance learning.
This year, the Media & Learning Conference is part of the Creative Media Days
initiative, organised by IBBT. Creative Media Days is a series of conferences at
the crossroads of Media and ICT taking place in Belgium in November 2012.

The Conference organisers invite interested individuals, project teams, institutions, and organisations to propose contributions that are relevant to the Conference themes in formats ranging from presentations to screenings and hands-on workshops.
The call for contributions closes 01 June 2012.
