-œOmnibus Rule-

DuPont Announces Three New HIPAA Training Programs

Virginia Beach, VA (USA), September 2013 - DuPont Sustainable Solutions has released three new HIPAA training programs that incorporate the mandates of the final -œomnibus rule- issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The omnibus rule enhances a patient's privacy protection, provides individuals with new rights to their health information, and strengthens the government's ability to enforce the law.

HIPAA Rules & Compliance, HIPAA Compliance for Home Health and Hospice Care, and HIPAA Rules & Compliance for Long-Term Care review the critical changes in the Minimum Necessary Rule, PHI disclosure for marketing and fundraising, breach notification and enforcement rules, and scope of enforcement. Training programs can be previewed and purchased online, and instant access is available with CoastalFlix™ streaming video.

The omnibus rule sets new limits on how information is used and disclosed for marketing and fund-raising purposes and prohibits the sale of an individual’s health information without their permission. Patients can ask for copies of their medical records in an electronic form. The changes also make it easier for parents and others to give permission to share proof of a child’s immunizations with a school.

Covered entities and business associates must comply with the applicable requirements of this final rule by Sept. 23, 2013.

By combining customizable, engaging content and scalable applications, DuPont Sustainable Solutions enables organizations of all sizes and in all industries to standardize training across multiple locations and job titles. Customers can choose from the DuPont curriculum of online courses, instructor-led presentations, streaming video, and DVDs covering the latest workplace-safety, maintenance, and human-resources issues.
