Sharing Knowledge That Can Help Make People Wiser

Orlando, FL (US), August 2011 - The online community information website from Alternative Medicine Info, LLC has gone live. The group that created AltMeds.com has spent two years beta testing the site and building the database of more than 8,000 pages, creating a comprehensive, go-to location for information on alternative medicine philosophies, practices, products, and services.

"We developed this site to provide an excellent starting point for people searching for information about complementary and alternative medical treatments for their own ailments or those of family and friends", said company managing partner Andre Raab. "We are inviting healthcare practitioners and product vendors to register on www.AltMeds.com and join us in sharing knowledge that can help make people wiser in matters of their own well-being and healthier as a result."

AltMeds.com is the creation of Nik Froehlich and Andre Raab, two individuals who believe in alternative medicine and natural healthcare, based on their own experiences and the experiences of people they know and love. The site founders are not medical doctors or alternative-medicine practitioners and are not connected to the pharmaceutical, insurance, or hospital industries. Information on the site, drawn from a variety of sources, has no bias toward any specific products or methodology.

In the time since AltMeds.com began accepting registrants, it has grown into a large and rapidly expanding community where visitors share information about their experiences and also post articles and videos of interest. It's a place to ask questions, find answers, initiate discussions, interact with vendors and practitioners, and locate local natural healthcare products and alternative medicine providers via its comprehensive national directory.

The term "alternative medicine" can be defined as any healthcare treatment not commonly taught today in American medical schools and includes traditional and folk remedies from countries around the globe. These treatments have been handed down from generation to generation since ancient times because they have been found to be effective. In the past, ancient remedies were the norm, and the pharmaceutical-intensive medicine that doctors learn today would have been considered "alternative".

AltMeds.com recognizes that the American healthcare system is under huge political and economic stress, which has caused a shift away from conventional doctors and drugs and toward traditional natural remedies. The founders believe that, in many cases, alternative treatments can be as effective as drugs produced by pharmaceutical companies and carry fewer side effects. Site visitors are encouraged to do their own research and make their own informed decisions about healthcare.

Alternative medicine practitioners and service providers, vendors of alternative products, and those who have had experiences with alternative medicine as patients are invited to share their experiences, ask and answer questions, and share what has worked for them.
