Practices that Sustain eLearning Training Solutions
Brisbane (AU), July 2011 - A new resource to help organisations incorporate technology as a key training tool has been released. Produced by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), "Practices that Sustain eLearning Training Solutions" is now available online.
The resource outlines the results of Framework-commissioned research looking at sustaining eLearning innovations that identifies what Australian organisations are doing to build eLearning into how they deliver training now and in the future.
The booklet focuses on
- evidence for the uptake of eLearning in the delivery of training
- benefits of eLearning for employees, employers, and training organisations
- practices that sustain the use of eLearning in training
- guidelines for eLearning good practice.
The Framework's Benchmarking and Research business manager, Melanie Worrall, says the experiences of the organisations that took part in the research provide some valuable lessons to others, saving time and money in developing more flexible training solutions.
-œThe research identified seven key factors that are important to grow e-maturity and sustain and embed eLearning innovations. A tool within the booklet allows organisations to assess their own level of e-maturity, ranging from novice to innovator.-
The seven practices important to grow e-maturity are
- be strategic
- gain senior leadership support
- build a business case
- identify resourcing
- identify and support champions
- access people supports
- allocate technical supports.
For example, at GippsTAFE, senior leaders supported the setting up of an Innovation Department, which now plays a major role in driving the organisation to achieve its stated ambition to be the best flexible-delivery institute in Australia.
At SunWater, the business case has shown significant reductions in training costs associated with transporting learners from all over Queensland and interstate to a classroom setting for training.
