It's a Game!

Partnership Develops New eLearning Game

Ottawa (CAN), November 2006 - I Squared Learning, a provider of interactive and intuitive automated eLearning platforms, has teamed with The National Quality Institute (NQI) to develop an eLearning game called "All About Excellence".

The game will be used by NQI as a Digital Games Based Learning (DGBL) tool. This is the second game that NQI has developed on the I Squared Learning platform.

The game teaches users how to implement and achieve a productive work environment successfully. Understanding the need to attract employees from all levels, the game replicates real-world experience to help energize teams and provide the insights on how to improve their organization.

"Digital games-based learning products such as 'All About Excellence' allow organizations to teach and assess skills and behaviors, going beyond the evaluation traditional testing methodologies can provide," said Stephen Davies, Vice President of Business Development, I Squared Learning. "NQI now has a tool that will enable users to activate their knowledge in scenarios they are likely to encounter in their day-to-day activities."

The NQI and I Squared Learning partnership profits from synergies. I Squared Learning offered a platform for NQI to develop its customized game. The interactive and intuitive automated eLearning platform combined with content that is based on NQI's expertise in improving the workplace has resulted in the development of a course leveraging Digital Games Based Learning.

"I Squared Learning continues to be a vital partner in helping us enhance our program offerings to provide our customers with innovative options to boost their workplace excellence," said Adam Stoehr, Director of Training and Certification, National Quality Institute. "All About Excellence gives users an introduction to how they can work with NQI to achieve the productive work environment they desire."

All About Excellence includes four scenarios where users need to determine the best course of action. In addition to introducing users to the NQI core principles, the game explores questions such as

  • How am I going to create a quality or healthy workplace when I already have a full-time job?
  • What's in this for me?
  • How can I contribute to organizational excellence when I am just one person?
  • How can I use these concepts and tools when I am face to face with customers?

NQI offers a variety of training and certification programs. I Squared Learning first partnered with NQI in 2005 for the development of Interactive Assessor. Based on Digital Games Based Learning, Interactive Assessor helped NQI to train and certify assessors for their various frameworks, starting with the Business Excellence Framework.
