EPortfolio to Encourage Autonomous Evidence-Based Learning
Pardubice (CZ), October 2019 – One of the Tech Labs at OEB Global 2019 is called "Working with ePortfolios - the Tool for Self-Directed Learning (BYOD)"; it is being held on Friday, 29 November, from 14.30 to 15.30. This hands-on event – managed by Jitka Hlouskova - is aimed at education professionals who wish to further develop their ICT-based teaching skills. You will be inspired by practical insights from the author’s experience with the use of an ePortfolio to encourage autonomous evidence-based learning and assessment. You will get insight into how working with an ePortfolio can stimulate desire for creativity, motivation, digital literacy, and self-reflection, skills that are demanded from 21st-century professionals. Get hands-on experience with the structure and principles of an electronic portfolio.
"Real or Remote? Next-Level Laboratory Education"
Freiberg (GER), October 2019 - Sebastian Zug is a professor at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. His research interests are focused on outdoor robotics and self-describing, intelligent components. Based on broad experience in bachelor and master courses he offers in programming and embedded systems, he develops new concepts for practically oriented engineering courses. These include new open source course materials, including interactive programming sessions, simulation tools, and remote access to laboratory equipment. At OEB Global, he will speak in a panel discussion entitled "Real or Remote? Next-Level Laboratory Education" on Thursday, 28 November, from 12.00 to 13.15.
Robots’ Roles in Education and Training

They are equipped with multimodal interaction capabilities and, equally important, have a physical presence. The session "Exploring Human-Robot Interaction and Robot Roles in Education and Training" on Thursday, 28 November, from 14.30 to 15.30 will increase your awareness about various training and educational oriented applications of humanoid robots. Gila Kurtz, Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), Israel, answered some current questions on the topic.
Infrastructure for Open Educational Resources

OER can be lesson materials of any kind, in any medium, published under an open license. They can be shared, modified, reused, adapted to specific teaching and study contexts, and expanded collaboratively, making it a lot easier for learners to gain access to high-quality educational resources and open learning.

St. Louis, MO (USA), May 2019 - Recent findings have provided strong evidence that retrieval based learning is an effective strategy for enhancing knowledge retention and long-term meaningful learning, but it is not a preferred learning strategy for the majority of students. The present research analyzes the application of learning gamification principles in online, open book, multiple choice tests in order to motivate students to engage in repeated retrieval based learning activities.
